Recent moorland fires have demonstrated their devastating effect. Unlike controlled heather burns, which are an essential part of moorland management, wild fires in the summer can cause long term damage to moorland. Where the fire service can only get to the nearest hard standing, DMS have a fleet of fire fighting tracked vehicles and operatives who can be deployed to a fire site, onto the hill, within 5 hours or less and provide tangible assistance in controlling the blaze.
